It was unexpectedly sunny first thing, so after breakfast we went for a walk while the going was good. From further down the towpath we took a path which led uphill and through woodland.
It came out eventually opposite the Mere, but high up with a nice view.
We then walked up over the Motte and Bailey castle mound, and back into town where there are some quaint streets, spoiled by cars.
Back at the boat we got our shopping list and bags and headed to Tesco for a restock. Then I still needed steps, so went off for another walk while Adrian dealt with some of the charity work he does. I got back just in time, because the rain started about 12, and has been going on and off ever since. Even so, there’s been a big turnover of boats in the arm and on the moorings out on the junction, with plenty of people leaving and plenty more arriving.
