Mother

My mother has had heart problems for a long while, so she only came up to Briar Rose once, in May 2012 (although my parents had also come with me on Debdale for a few days in 2007). Strangely enough, her pacemaker reported later that she'd almost had another heart attack that day -- it must have been the excitement of 3mph.

Mother died yesterday evening; my father and I were with her, and during the day she'd also seen my sister and her family. She was ready to go.

This is a boating blog, so let's talk boating. My parents had quite a few holidays afloat when they were young, along with my uncle and his wife. They remember Blosworth Tunnel before it was re-opened, and there's even a story about the weir where the Trent crosses the Trent and Mersey at Alrewas! In recent years she'd had a tablet, and would follow this blog when we were on our big trips. We're going to miss her.

Adam,
Very sorry to hear that you've lost your Mum, but I'm sure you are right when you think she was "ready to go" with her family around her. I'm convinced that my own parents "chose" when they wanted to leave us having both waited until they'd said goodbye to all the family. It seems that your mother did the same.

Adam,

So sorry to hear you have lost your Mum but you have a lot of fond memories of her aboard and those you will cherish forever.

Good to be with her and I am sure she took comfort in all your family close by in her last days.

Thinking of you this evening Adam..

Adam, We are so sorry for your loss. It seems from your post that your mom was ready to walk on as the Native Amreicans say, and she was fortunate to have her Best beloveds by her side. May your memories be good ones, for those who are remembered, live.

Sorry to hear your news. We'll be thinking of you. When it's time to go, it's time to go, but it's still hard for those you leave behind.

Take care of yourself, y'hear?

Best regards

Adam,

I just wanted to let you know that there WILL be "lurkers" (for want of a better word) on here - and perhaps in any other on-line places you frequent, that are/will be, thinking about you and "feeling" for you right now.

Lots of people aren't armed with the appropriate communication skills (myself included) to say the "right stuff" but I DO believe even letting someone know you are trying to empathise, might be of some solace.

With kindest thoughts,
Mark x
